Curriculum

Rector for Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability and Full Professor of Public Finance at Bocconi University. She is the director of the Axa Research Lab on Gender Equality, affiliated with CESifo, and a board member of the International Institute of Public Finance. She represents Italy in the Expert Forum of EIGE.

Paola Profeta obtained her PhD in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University, studying also at Columbia University in New York, and graduated with honors in Economic and Social Disciplines from Bocconi University. She was a post-doc at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve and a researcher at the University of Pavia. She has been a visiting scholar at numerous universities, including Nuffield College at Oxford, Harvard Kennedy School, CESifo, Lugano, Edinburgh, and Trinity College in Dublin.

Her research focuses on gender economics, public economics, and political economy. She is dedicated to quantitative research based on analysis of individual and firm data, as well as policy evaluation analysis. She has published in prestigious international journals, including PNAS, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Public Economics, Management Science, European Economic Review, Economic Journal, Oxford Economic Papers, Economic Policy, Journal of Public Economic Theory, International Tax and Public Finance, European Journal of Political Economy, Public Choice. She has published international books with Cambridge University Press, Palgrave, Routledge, and Elgar. She is part of the editorial committee of the international journals European Journal of Political Economy, International Tax and Public Finance, Labor, and CESifo Economic Studies. Her latest book is "Gender Equality and Public Policy. Measuring progress in Europe," Cambridge University Press, translated into Italian by Egea.

Coordinates international research projects on women's work and female empowerment. On the same topic, organizes international conferences and participates in the national and European debate, writing for major newspapers. Collaborates with numerous associations and institutions dedicated to promoting gender equality in the economic field.
