My name is Elena, I am 25 years old and I am in the final year of the single-cycle master's degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Milan. I have always been passionate about the world of cosmetics, fascinated and intrigued by the combinations of ingredients that make up the products we use daily and by the innovative scientific research that leads to their creation.

Determined to be part of this world in my future, at the end of scientific high school I started the degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, which, thanks to a transversal and multidisciplinary scientific approach, provides skills suitable for various professional fields, including the cosmetic industry.

In fact, cosmetic science is a synergy of knowledge ranging from chemical, analytical, and technological to biological and anatomical-physiological, up to regulatory aspects. The cosmetologist then adds a pinch of creativity, and it is in this way that science and research merge with art.

During my course of studies, I acquired knowledge related to the world of human health, also thanks to the six-month training internship I carried out at a pharmacy in my city, specifically within a compounding laboratory.

I am currently working on my experimental thesis in collaboration with the cosmetic company "Cosmopharmac" to create a line of cosmetic products with anti-spot action based on the active ingredient "Tranexamic Acid", an innovative depigmenting molecule. This experience has allowed me to deepen my knowledge of emulsion systems and become familiar with Research and Development work in all its aspects, from understanding raw materials, formulative techniques, quality requirements, safety and effectiveness of the finished product. Furthermore, the analytical investigation of the formulated products, which I am carrying out in university laboratories, has allowed me to face the typical unexpected events of the experimental scientific method, which I find to be a strong stimulus to develop the ability to research new solutions, even starting from perspectives not considered before.

I have developed similar characteristics thanks to my family as well. In fact, I am the youngest of six children and this has allowed me to develop adaptability, listening skills, open-mindedness to different ideas, but also to find the right space to make my opinion heard.

I consider myself a dynamic, curious person with a strong desire to challenge myself. I have been practicing pole dance for 4 years, which has taught me to be determined and perseverant. I frequently engage in environmental volunteering activities, as it is a topic that I deeply care about.
