Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL)
Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), head of the LASA Laboratory, Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory at EPFL. Graduated in physics from EPFL, she obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, and was a researcher at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Her research focuses on the development of friendly and adaptable human-robot interfaces; this is an interdisciplinary field that connects various fields of Engineering, Computer Science, and Biology.
The LASA Laboratory is composed of seventeen people. Two-thirds of the laboratory is dedicated to robotics, in research on Human-Robot Interaction, through which it is possible to "teach" robots, or train them, to perform various operations and tasks. Aude Billard's research and the LASA team also touch on aspects of medicine: they have been used in the study of brain injuries and autism.
