Mariasole Bianco is a scientist expert in marine environment conservation and naturalistic communicator. She collaborates as a consultant with institutions, media, companies, and non-governmental organizations and is a national and international reference point for her commitment to ocean conservation. She is the co-founder and President of Worldrise, a non-profit organization that has been working for over a decade for the effective conservation of Italian seas, facilitating a positive change that reconnects people to the sea, raises awareness about the importance of the ocean, and translates into collective commitment to its safeguard. In 2012 she joined the World Commission on Protected Areas of the IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and two years later, she was recognized among the "100 Ocean Heroes" in the world. Since 2015, she has been part of the team of the television program Kilimangiaro (Rai 3) as an expert on ocean-related topics and for some years she has been traveling around the world telling the wonders of the sea as an author and presenter of nature documentaries. She has also taught naturalistic communication at the University of Genoa, written the book "Ocean Planet" (Rizzoli), and created and co-produced two podcasts "XXI Century Mermaids" and "Elements" (Mondadori Studios). In 2021, the animated series Acquateam-mission sea, winner of numerous national and international awards, was released by Rai Ragazzi, of which she is the scientific author and protagonist. Her commitment and the impact of her work have crossed national borders, receiving prestigious awards from the European Commission and the United Nations, mentions from La Repubblica, Forbes, Sole24Ore as one of the Italian women who have made a mark, and from Linkedin as Top Voice for the environment.
