Full Professor of Industrial Bioengineering and Biomedical Robotics at SSSA - Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa
Full Professor of Industrial Bioengineering and Biomedical Robotics at SSSA - Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa and team leader of the Surgical Robotics & Allied Technologies area at the BioRobotics Institute.
Arianna Menciassi graduated in Physics from the University of Pisa and obtained a PhD in Bioengineering from SSSA. She has worked for some periods in France as a Visiting Professor at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Mecaniques et des Microtechniques in Besancon and at the ISIR Institute of the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris.
His main research interests are in biomedical robotics, microsystems technologies, and micro-mechatronics, with a strong synergy between robot-assisted therapy and micro-nano-biotech solutions. He has developed magnetically guided medical devices and integrated robotic platforms for ultrasound therapies and is the inventor of 25 national and international patent applications.
She has gained extensive experience both in the management of European and non-European projects and in training and educational activities through the supervision, at the SSSA and the University of Pisa, of over 15 Post-Docs, 20 PhD students, and 50 undergraduate students.
She is the author of over 370 publications, 7 book chapters on robots, biomedical devices, and microtechnologies, and is the co-editor of a volume on the use of piezoparticles for biomedical applications.
Until 2013, within the Editorial Committee of the IEEE-ASME Trans. On Mechatronics, currently holds the role of Topic Editor of Medical Robotics for the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems.
Furthermore, he is part of the Steering Committee of the Society for Medical Innovation and Technology, the Steering Committee of the IEEE Transactions on Nanobioscience, and is co-Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Surgical Robotics.
In 2007, she received the Well-Tech Award for research on endoscopic capsules and was awarded the Silver Gonfalon as one of the top 10 talents in the Tuscany Region.
