Curriculum

Since October 2018, Professor Alessandra Biffi has been a Full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Padua. She is responsible for the Clinic and Laboratory of Pediatric Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the University Hospital of Padua, and coordinates the research area in Pediatric Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation, and Gene Therapy at the Pediatric Research Institute of Padua.

Previously she was the director of the gene therapy program at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer in Boston (2015-2018), of which she is now co-director, and a clinical attending at the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Center at Boston Children's Cancer in Boston (2015-2018), head of unit at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan (Telethon San Raffaele Institute for gene therapy), where she also practiced as a doctor and was responsible for the simple clinical unit at the pediatric stem cell transplant and immuno-hematology center (until 2015).

He has trained over 30 fellows and doctoral students, as well as numerous doctors and medical students in his laboratories and clinics, most of whom are still engaged in university research activities. He has extensive clinical experience in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and early-phase clinical trials of cellular and gene therapy.

She is actively involved in allogeneic transplant protocols for metabolic diseases and hemoglobinopathies, as well as in gene therapy studies for neurological genetic diseases, hemoglobinopathies, immunodeficiencies, and cancer.

His preclinical and clinical research is dedicated to improving the efficacy of therapeutic approaches based on hematopoietic stem cells for monogenic and multifactorial neurodegenerative diseases and autoimmune pathologies.
