Data and experiences from the last edition of FutureCamp Europe
Milan, October 9, 2013 – 130 people in the audience and great response on social networks ( 530 people on twitter, 900 on facebook and 407 on linkedin ) last October 4, at the Civic Aquarium of Milan, for FutureCamp Europe: Biotech , the interactive meeting, conceived and organized by the Association of Women and Technologies, aimed at young people interested in discovering and understanding how to enter and navigate in the emerging professional sectors in Europe.
During this edition of FutureCamp Europe, held within the first edition of the European Biotech Week - seven days, from September 30th to October 6th, to pay homage to the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA structure and to tell the biotechnologies in their different application sectors - students, professors, parents, and representatives of the business world delved into the field of Biotechnologies applied to Agrofood, Health, and Industry, through the experiences and expertise of excellent witnesses in the sector. In particular, the criteria with which companies hire technical-scientific personnel were illustrated, the concrete possibilities that young people in Italy have in this sector were discussed, the study paths to be undertaken, the professions most sought after by companies, the supports made available by the University, and many other practical tips to enter the Biotech world.
“ The Biotechnology sector has held up, despite the crisis - declared Maria Luisa Nolli , entrepreneur and coordinator of the event - and I am certain that the first signs of recovery will come from "bio research", in fact they are already arriving ”.
As confirmation of this, the data from the research "Not just white coats" on the most demanded professions in emerging sectors, presented by Patrizia Fontana. What unequivocally emerges is that the biotechnology sector is expanding greatly, not only for activities related to research but also in the industrial field: choosing a university faculty like biotechnology followed by a specialization in marketing, or public relations, or business management represents the winning driver to increase competitiveness for young people in this sector.
In addition to Nolli and Fontana, Annalisa Balloi, Sara Cantone, Daniela Jabes, Cinzia Menchise, Alberto Schiraldi, and Elena Sgaravatti have brought their own experience.
The reaction of the Institutions was also enthusiastic: the Conservator of the Aquarium of the Municipality of Milan, Nicoletta Ancona, the Councillor for Youth Policies of the Province of Milan, Cristina Stancari, and the Councillor for Education, Training and Employment of the Lombardy Region, Valentina Aprea.
The contents of the camp are shared on the FutureCamp Europe channels on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, on the portal womentech.eu and within the schedule of the web tv of Womentech.
