Women&Tech® ETS presents:

T-essere: THE TALENT OF THE BRAIN

February 23, 2023, at 6:00 PM
at Oracle - Via Massimo D'Azeglio 4, Milan

The brain is the organ that ages less than any other. Less than the liver, skin, or heart. Taking care of it is our only opportunity to extend youth, to savor life for a long time, and at the same time safeguard the health of the body.

As told in this book by Michela Matteoli, one of the most internationally recognized Italian neuroscientists, the brain has a strong point: plasticity, that is, the property of modifying itself and self-repairing. This is the reason why it can evolve throughout life, expanding, literally, and building new connections between neurons. A unique talent.

In ten easy neuroscience lessons, the author guides readers to discover the great potential of our minds, but also the main enemy of the nervous system: chronic inflammation, which causes premature aging and triggers diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and depression. Scientists are focused on researching methods to counteract neuroinflammation, and to prevent and slow down its damage, it is possible to adopt prevention protocols, such as the one at the CNR Neuroscience Institute, directed by Matteoli.

The talent of the brain wants to be a journey to understand some of the most extraordinary brain functions and to indicate to everyone how to adopt strategies that preserve cognitive abilities, from nutrition to relaxation. The earlier you start, the better. "Our brain does not fly alone," writes the scientist. "The external environment, inflammatory molecules in our blood, or the bacteria in our gut shape and modify it, and our brain responds. It responds quietly or loudly. But it always responds."

The book is part of the series Sciences for Life, conceived and directed by Eliana Liotta.

We talk about it with:

  • Michela Matteoli, Full Professor of Pharmacology at Humanitas University, Director of the Institute of Neuroscience of the CNR, and Technovisionary® 2011
  • Luisella Giani, EMEA Head of Industry Transformation at Oracle and Technovisionary® 2021

They introduce:

  • Alessandro Ippolito, VP Technology Software South & Country Manager Oracle Italy
  • Gianna Martinengo, President of Women&Tech® ETS, Founder & CEO of DKTS, Member of INAB STOA (European Parliament) and Board of Technological Innovation and Digital Transformation (City of Milan).

The event takes place in hybrid mode: there are 50 seats available at the Oracle headquarters (Via Massimo d'Azeglio 4, Milan) to attend the live event (registration required by filling out the form below) and it will be broadcast live on the Women&Tech® social channels.
