Monica D'Ascenzo is a financial journalist and writer. Currently, she works in the editorial office of Finance & Markets at Il Sole 24 Ore and since 2016 she is the creator and manager of Alley Oop - The other half of the Sun, the multi-author blog of Il Sole 24 Ore dedicated to diversity. She joined the 24 Ore Group in 2001 and has worked in the editorial offices of Ventiquattrore.tv, the Radiocor news agency, and the Moda24 weekly magazine.

Previously, she had experience abroad in the London editorial office of Bloomberg Tv, where she hosted the morning financial program. She was also a television author for the program Internet Café hosted by Andrea Pezzi and for the documentaries New Worlds on Rai Educational. She wrote "Five years of private equity in Italy" (Egea, 2004), "Sms, only super males" (L'Airone Editrice, 2006), "Women on the brink of economic crisis" (Rizzoli, 2009), "Facts further. Women at the top of companies: pink quotas in the Board of Directors" (Gruppo 24 Ore, 2011), "Beyond borders. Italian companies conquering the world" (Gruppo 24 Ore, 2016) and the illustrated children's book "Palmiro, what will you do when you grow up?" (Valentina Edizioni, 2011).
