General Director of the Scientific and Technological Park of Venice (VEGA)
Michele Vianello, Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Venice from 1997 to 2001; from 2005 until October 2009, he still holds the position of Vice Mayor.
Parliamentarian from 2001 to 2005. Currently he is the Director of VEGA, the Scientific and Technological Park of Venice.
He promoted the policy of the Municipality of Venice which first transformed the Venis SPA Society (owned by the Municipality of Venice) into an ICT Company, then promoted the cabling of the Municipality of Venice. Thanks to this policy, the City will be covered by 10000 km of fiber optic owned by the Authority to improve access to the network by citizens, tourists, and businesses.
The Municipal Administration has also promoted free access to the network for citizens by spreading WIFI hot-spots "spilled on fiber optics" throughout the city fabric. The strategic use of the network has allowed the Municipality to promote, regulate, improve, and develop tourism through online sales of services aimed at guests. Venice is the first city in the world to have promoted its own portal for the sale of public services to tourists and has transformed the tariff into pricing.
Since February 1, 2009, the portal //venice>connected intermediates thousands of orders every day from the visitors of the City.
He has given a strong impetus to the organizational change of the City of Venice, adopting and implementing WEB 2.0 philosophies, developing management philosophies and interaction with citizens called 'Administration 2.0'.
