Curriculum

Mariya Gabriel, born in Bulgaria, is the current European Commissioner for Economy and Digital Society. She was Vice President of the EPP Group in the European Parliament from 2014-2017. From 2009 to 2017, she was a Member of the European Parliament, EPP/GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria).

Since 2012, she has held the position of Vice President of PPE Women. Previously, she was Parliamentary Secretary of the GERB political party deputies within the PPE group in 2008-2009.

It is part of project groups such as the Digital Single Market, the Energy Union, the improvement of regulation and interinstitutional affairs, budget and human resources and employment, growth, investments and competitiveness.

As a member of project teams, your responsibilities include proposing ambitious ideas for the completion of a connected global digital market, supporting the development of creative industries and a successful European media and content industry, as well as other activities that transform digital research into concrete innovation initiatives.
