Curriculum
Researcher, Nuclear Medicine, Scientific Institute San Raffaele

Graduated with top honors in Medicine and Surgery (1995), specializing in Nuclear Medicine (1999), from the State University of Milan.
From 2000 to 2003, she held the position of Medical Director at the Nuclear Medicine Unit, San Raffaele Hospital, Milan.
From 2003 to 2004, she spent time abroad at the Nuclear Medicine department of Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technische Universität Munchen, Munich, Germany, conducting research in molecular imaging using positron emission tomography (PET) for the development of tracers to assess tumor tissue hypoxia.
Since 2004, she has been a Research Medical Director at the Nuclear Medicine Unit, San Raffaele Hospital, Milan.
She has been involved in teaching activities since 2000, both for the degree courses at the University of Milan and for the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Specialty Schools, as well as for national and international refresher courses.
Since 2004, she has been a part-time Professor in the Nuclear Medicine specialization course at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
Since 2009, she has been involved in the preparatory phase of the European Advanced Translational Research Infrastructure in Medicine (EATRIS) project of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructure (ESFRI).
Since 2010, she has been an Associate at the Institute of Bioimaging and Molecular Physiology (IBFM-CNR) in the field of molecular imaging in oncology.
Her research activities generally focus on the use of PET methodology for the evaluation and functional characterization of neoplasms. The main research fields include: 1) Study of glucose metabolism with PET and PET/CT in cancer patients; 2) Use of PET and PET/CT in cancer staging and restaging; 3) Use of PET with 11C-Choline in prostate cancer restaging; 4) Development of PET tracers for studying hypoxia in tumor tissue; 5) Use of PET/CT in defining volumes for radiotherapeutic treatment.
She has published around 60 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals (h-index: 22) and 8 book chapters. She has presented abstracts at numerous national and international congresses, participated in numerous Congresses and Invited Talks, and attended numerous Courses as a Teacher. She has received 6 awards for scientific merit.
Since 2009, she has been part of international groups for drafting clinical recommendations on the use of PET, specifically: "Joint EANM-EATRO recommendations on the use of PET/CT in radiotherapy planning" and "EANM recommendations on the use of PET/CT in prostate cancer". Since 2010, she has been the Director of an EANM-ESTRO course (Educational Seminar) on "Positron Emission Tomography in Radiation Oncology".
She has received research funding as a Group Leader for a project by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC), and as Scientific Manager and Principal Investigator for two projects funded by the Ministry of Health (Oncology and Young Researchers).
