Lella Costa

Actress and writer

Curriculum

Milanese, after graduating in Literature, she graduated from the Academy of Filodrammatici with a gold medal. She started acting alongside Massimo De Rossi and in 1980, she debuted with her first monologue: "Repertorio, cioè l’orfana e il reggicalze", followed by many others, some written by herself.
This marked the beginning of a journey that led her to work with contemporary authors and approach the so-called cabaret-theatre. In 1987, she debuted with the show "Adlib", of which she is also the author; the following year came "Coincidenze".
In January '92, her first book, "La daga nel loden", was published by Feltrinelli, and at the same time, she debuted with "Due".
She effortlessly moved from Teatro Studio to Piccolo Teatro di Milano, to Radio, and to other books in her career, which also included commitments that involved her presence on television ("La tv delle ragazze", "Ottantanonpiùottanta", "Il gioco dei nove", the "Maurizio Costanzo Show", “Zelig”, “Tv Talk”) and in movies ("Ladri di saponette" by Maurizio Nichetti, "Visioni private" by Francesco Calogero, "La donna della mia vita" with Stefania Sandrelli).
Different genres, one common thread: commitment and a lot of humor. In 2001, she approached the topic of women, a universe she has always drawn from, thanks to Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues". This was followed by the books "Come una specie di sorriso", a short essay on irony, and "Che bello essere noi", reflections on the world from a women's perspective, published by Piemme.
And, speaking of women, she participated in "Ferite a morte", Serena Dandini's project which became a theatrical performance.
In 2015, she resumed the tours of "Nuda proprietà" and "Ferite a Morte", performed, in English, as Voltaire in Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" and the melodrama "Sotto di noi il diluvio", written by Michele Serra and set to music by Fabio Vacchi. She has been a spokesperson and ambassador for WE-Women for Expo.
In recent years, she has often collaborated with Paolo Fresu in events related to music and literature, such as the Festivaletteratura in Mantova.
Since 2004, she has been the President of CEMP, the oldest secular counseling center in Milan, and among the various awards she has received, the most cherished are those that recognize her deep connection with the female world: the "Mamma Lucia" (2008), the "Gina Lagorio - a woman in the world" (2010), the O.N.D.A.- Vehrnier award (2013), the LILT FOR WOMEN award (2015).
She has three daughters, Arianna, Viola, and Nina: of course, the fact that they are all girls is just a coincidence...
