Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Director of the Simulation Research Laboratory at Tufts University

Curriculum

Professor of Electronics and Computer Science at Tufts University (United States, MA), where she directs the Simulation Research Laboratory. She graduated in Computer Science from Boston University and obtained her PhD from Northeastern University. She was the first female engineer in the United States to obtain a tenured professorship in Computer Science. Before joining Tufts, she worked at Intel (then Digital Equipment Corporation) in computer design. For her research in the field of modeling and simulation, she has been awarded five "Outstanding Research" awards by NASA.

He is a member of the IEEE, International Director of the IEEE Women in Engineering and President of the IEEE Educational Society. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine WIE, Women In Engineering. Karen Panetta is very dedicated to promoting girls in her field, and has established a national program called “Nerd Girls”: engineering students who help younger colleagues overcome barriers and stereotypes that could discourage them from pursuing a scientific career.
