Isabella Castiglioni, born in 1968, graduated in Physics from the University of Milan, MBA from the Bocconi University School of Management in Milan, is a Full Professor in Applied Physics at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where she teaches Machine Learning, Big Data and Medical Imaging, Signal and Image Processing for AI, and contributes to technology transfer, particularly in the selection and support of business ideas and university spin-offs.

Her research activity is aimed at the development of new AI algorithms applied to various fields of image physics. In 2019, she was recognized as one of the 100 women against stereotypes in science, in 2021 she won the International Technovisionaries Award - AI and Health category, and the Inspiring Fifty award. Also in 2021, she was appointed by the Italian government as a member of the Working Group for the Italian national AI strategy. Professor Castiglioni has contributed to research with over 80 seminars at international conferences and schools, 160 scientific publications, including Science, Nature Communications, Nucleic Acids Research, Theranostics, EMBO Molecular Medicine, leading numerous projects funded through competitive grants for a net contribution to research of over 2 million euros. The dedication to spin-offs and university teaching and research integrate, contributing to the training of professionals of the present and the near future, for an ethical and responsible use of the potential of AI.

In 2018, she founded the start-up DeepTrace Technologies, a spinoff of the IUSS-Pavia University School known internationally in the field of medical devices based on artificial intelligence applied to personalized predictive medicine. In 2021, she received the international award "The Technovisionaries®" and is one of the Inspiring Fifty Italy.
