Cobot Specialist ABB Robotics Italy
Gloria Farinella, 28 years old, Sicilian, graduated in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Mechatronics and Robotics at the Polytechnic University of Milan. She works as a technical support at ABB, an expert in collaborative robots.
During his studies, he participated in the Erasmus program in Finland at LUT and the "Advances in Robotics" course in Russia at ITMO. His thesis, in collaboration with ABB and SUPSI-IDSIA, focused on 3D manipulation with a 2D camera, using the Yumi Single Arm cobot and Artificial Intelligence algorithms, leading to the publication of a scientific article in ICECCME.
After graduating, she was hired by ABB as a Global Trainee in the Technical Support team and participated in a 6-month assignment in ABB Germany, where she worked as an Application Engineer. Subsequently, she was involved in projects in Sweden at ABB's headquarters as a Motion Control R&D Engineer, developing software for the collaborative robot GoFa.
Back in Italy, she maintained contact with the research and development teams and specialized in technical support for GoFa at a local and global level.
In 2023 she was selected for the Female Development Program at ABB, a mentorship and development program aimed at promoting female talent within ABB.
Since March 2024, he has been in the global division of Cobot Distribution and Ecosystem, representing Italy at a technical level and working with R&D to bring the "Customer Voice" to the parent company.
From May 2024, she is also part of the RobotWare Validation team, which is responsible for verifying and ensuring the proper functioning of cobot operating systems.
He has participated in events such as "CobotOnTour", "CobotDay", and various editions of the Formula E, promoting ABB robots. He contributed to the "Impresa in Azione" program of Junior Achievement Italy as a Dream Coach and has taken part in numerous interventions on technology and women in STEM.
In his free time, he loves to travel, practice yoga, and go hiking.
