Ambassador, President of the Institute for International Political Studies and President of Fincantieri SpA
Giampiero Massolo has been President of the Institute for International Political Studies since January 2017 and President of Fincantieri SpA since May 2016.
Since October 1993, he has been the Deputy Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the Council and then, since June 1994, the Chief of Staff to the President of the Council.
In June 1996, he became Head of the Press and Information Service of the Foreign Ministry and Spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in September 2001, between March 2004 and May 2006, he was Director General for Multilateral Political Affairs and Human Rights and then Chief of Staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Appointed Ambassador in January 2006, he was Director General for Personnel.
In September 2007, he assumed the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From April 2008 to December 2009, he also served as the Personal Representative (Sherpa) of the Prime Minister for the G8 and G20.
Between May 2012 and May 2016, he was the Director General of the Department of Information for Security (DIS) at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
