International Award "The Technovisionaries" 2026Emanuela Orsi is the Director of the Complex Structure of Diabetology and Nutrition at ASST Santi Paolo e Carlo.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1988 from the University of Milan, with a grade of 110 cum laude. She subsequently obtained a Specialization Diploma in Food Science, also from the University of Milan, with a grade of 70/70 cum laude, a Specialization Diploma in Geriatrics from the University of Pavia, with a grade of 70/70, and a Specialization Diploma in Endocrinology from the University of Milan, with a grade of 70/70 cum laude.
He began his professional career as a medical research intern at San Raffaele in Milan, in the Division of Internal Medicine directed by Professor Guido Pozza, focusing in particular on diabetes mellitus and intraperitoneal insulin therapy using an implantable and programmable pump. During the same years, he attended the Division d’Education Thérapeutique des Maladies Chroniques in Geneva, directed by Professor Jean-Philippe Assal, where he completed his training in therapeutic education for diabetic patients.
This path has represented an essential foundation of his approach to diabetes, in which communication, listening, and the therapeutic alliance with the person with diabetes are central elements of care.
She worked as a Medical Assistant at the P. Redaelli Geriatric Institute in Vimodrone, IPPAB, where she managed the Geriatric Rehabilitation department and the integrated activities with the local area. Subsequently, she was the Director of a Simple Unit of Diabetology at the Policlinico of Milan, handling the management of diabetes and its complications through the organization of outpatient clinics, Day Hospitals, and consultations for all departments. In this role, she also organized therapeutic education courses aimed at people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including in collaboration with regional and national patient associations.
She has been Regional President and a member of the National Executive Council of the Italian Society of Diabetology, holding various positions, including those in the Educational Committee, coordinating the Forum of Presidents and Study Groups on Education and Diabetes and Diabetic Nephropathy. She is currently the incoming Coordinator of the Gender Medicine Study Group.
He also holds the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor of Endocrinology.
