Assistant Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Parma
Daniele Del Rio, 36, is Assistant Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Parma. His research work began in 2002 with a primary focus on oxidative stress and antioxidants. After visiting the University of Glasgow, he shifted his focus to polyphenol analysis in food and human tissues. Daniele has published over 55 papers in peer-reviewed ISI journals and 6 book chapters. His works have been cited over 1900 times in the last 8 years, and he has an H-index of 19.
Daniele is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition and is a member of the Editorial Board of Nutrition Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases and of the newly funded journal Nutrition & Medicine. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies, among which the Phytochemical Society of Europe, the Italian Society of Physiology and the National Society of Diabetology. Since January 2011, Daniele is the head of the φ2 Laboratory of Phytochemicals in Physiology, a research unit which will be part of the newly funded Department of Food Science of the University of Parma.
