Curriculum

Graduated in Biological Sciences, with a PhD in Medical Microbiology, both obtained at the University of Milan, Daniela completed an internship at the laboratory of Prof. Alexander Tomasz at Rockefeller University in New York.

She has gained extensive and documented experience in R&D of new anti-infective and anti-tumor drugs both in the pharmaceutical industry and in the biotech sector. Before taking on the role of VP, Medical Microbiology and Preclinical Development at Biosearch Italia/Vicuron, Daniela worked at the Nerviano Research Center (Farmitalia-Carlo Erba-Pharmacia Corp) where she contributed to the discovery and characterization of several new antibiotics for the treatment of serious hospital infections and tuberculosis.

In 2005 he founded NeED Pharmaceuticals, a biotech company focused on the discovery of new molecules for the treatment of "neglected" infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and AIDS, and is still the Sole Director. In 2006, he co-founded NAICONS scrl (now NAICONS srl, where he is still part of the Board of Directors), a technological platform based on the exploitation of products of microbial origin for the identification of new chemical classes to be developed in various clinical indications, with particular attention to infectious diseases.

In 2011, she co-founded NeED Foundation, which promotes the fight against counterfeit drugs. Since 2015, Daniela has been collaborating with Molecola SA, providing operational and strategic consulting in the pre-clinical and clinical development of drugs. She is the author or co-author of over 100 publications and co-inventor of 17 patents.
