Curriculum

Appointed in May 2019 as Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Cariplo, formerly Full Professor of Agricultural Microbiology at the Department of Food, Environmental and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Milan (until 2013), she was Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture (2004-2010).

Today Editor-in-Chief of the international magazine "Annals of Microbiology", published by Springer (since 2002). Member of the Evaluation Committee of the University of Basilicata. President of the Scientific Committee for EXPO of the Municipality of Milan (since 2012). Member of the Steering Committee of EU Scientific Programme for EXPO 2015 (of the European Parliament and Commission) since March 2014. Vice President of the Italian Touring Club (since 2011). His research topics: biotechnologies for environmental defense and agriculture improvement. Application of microorganisms for the recovery of deteriorated works of art.

She has been a coordinator and partner of European and national projects and scientific reference of the Unimi research unit of a European project on the theme Women and Science (Stages) (2011-2014).

He worked as a lecturer at the University of Milan, Molise, and at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He promoted and coordinated a master's program on "Agriculture and food production in arid areas" at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt (2005-2007), and later coordinated an international commission that promoted, designed, and founded the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Makeni, Sierra Leone.

Among the many positions held, she has been president and member of various committees of the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture, Health, and Cultural Heritage.
