Curriculum

Claudia Padovani is a researcher in International Relations at the University of Padua (SPGI) where she teaches International Communication and Global Studies. For years she has been dealing with global governance of communication, with particular attention to the link between democratic, participatory processes and communication, and to the gender dimension in the knowledge society.

Since 2005, she has been the co-coordinator of the Italian team of the Global Media Monitoring Project, on the representation and portrayal of women in the media (www.whomakesthenews.org).

In 2012/13, Padovani was a senior researcher in a European project promoted by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) dedicated to Advancing gender equality in decision-making in media organisations. From the project, digital resources on gender and media in Europe were created: www.womenandmedia.eu and http://www.globalmediapolicy.net/node/6305.

She is engaged in these issues at an international level in collaborations with UNESCO (Global Alliance for Media and Gender) and IAMCR (www.iamrc.org).
