In Pisa, on the occasion of the first International Robotics Festival,

Women & Tech-Women and Technology Association recognizes the value of innovation and creativity of women with the International Women & Technology Award ®. Pisa International Robotics Festival, Arsenali Repubblicani

Milan, September 5, 2017 - The International Prize Tecnovisionarie enhances female skills and is awarded annually to women who, in their professional activities, have testified to possess vision, favouring the 'social impact, transparency in behavior and ethics. They are the "Techno visionaries" in the field of research, innovation, enterprise, art, and culture. ®

Given through the years to International and Italian women, the award is sponsored by Women & Tech - Association of Women and Technology, founded by Gianna Martinengo to valorize female talent in technology, innovation, and scientific research, to promote projects and actions aimed at countering stereotypes and gender discrimination. To contribute to guiding youth towards their future jobs following models of sustainable business.

"Creativity and Innovation: not only technology, but thought" is the title of the XI edition of the Prize on the evening of

September 13 in Pisa at the Arsenals Republicans, as part of the closing ceremony of the first International Festival of Robotics, the prize will be awarded to women who have an innovative, sustainable, and ethical vision in their profession.

"It closes a circle - says Franca Melfi, director of the Multidisciplinary Center Robotic Surgery Company Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana, president of Techno-visionary Jury Prize and in 2011 in the category BioWomenTech - which in reality only widens its range. From here, in fact, it begins again to tell more solidly the solidarity, the commitment, the desire to valorize female talent in all its personal and professional expressions. "

On the XI edition, conducted by RAI journalist and writer Vittoriana Abate and Roberto Messina , journalist, the following women will be awarded as Tecnovisionarie:

  • for the category WomenHealth, intended for researchers and scientists in the section of life sciences , Paola Ricciardi Castagnoli, Scientific Director of TLS Toscana Life Science Foundation;
  • for the category WomenCEO, intended for women who have reached an important summit position of important companies thanks to their entrepreneurial and managerial abilities  , Gina Giani, CEO and General Director of Airports Tuscany SpA;
  • for the category WomenInnovation, intended for researchers and scientists in the field of biomedical and surgical robotics, Arianna Menciassi, professor of Industrial Bioengineering and Biomedical Robotics and team leader of the area Surgical Robotics & Allied Technologies at the Institute of BioRobotics, Higher School of Sant'Anna di Pisa (SSSA);
  • for the category WomenSustainability, intended for women who dedicate their activities to the issues of social, cultural, and environmental sustainability, Giovanna Ambrosoli, president of the Foundation Dr. Ambrosoli;
  • for the category WomenTerritory, intended for women who have promoted new management models in research aimed at enhancing the area in which they work, Annalisa Bonfiglio, Professor of Bioengineering Electronics at the University of Cagliari - Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and president of CRS4 - Center for Research, Development, Advanced Studies in Sardinia;
  • Special category for the World Prize, intended for women worldwide who have contributed to the development of innovative technologies applied to robotics, Amy Kerdok, senior manager for Clinical Development Engineering at Intuitive Surgical.
  • for the category Special Mention, for young women who have distinguished themselves in the field of educational robotics, Valeria Cagnina, maker and Robotics teacher.

Women & Technology will receive a canvas of Anita Collection, specially created, and will be awarded by members of the Jury of the Prize, qualified representatives of the thematic areas of the different categories of the competition, from the world of culture and communication: Franco Mosca, professor emeritus of the University of Pisa; Paolo Dario, professor and director of the BioRobotics at the Scuola Sant'Anna in Pisa; Franca Melfi, President of the Jury and Director of the Centre Multidisciplinary Robotic Surgery at the Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana; Gianna Martinengo, entrepreneur and founder of Women & Tech - Women and Technologies Association and creator of the Prize; Daniela Aleggiani, 3M Italy communication and Secretary General of the Foundation 3M.

Together with them are also Stefania Saccardi, assessor for health, welfare, and social-health integration of the Tuscany Region, and Hubert Stein, global clinical development director at Intuitive Surgical Inc.
