Milan, 30.08.2017- On the occasion of the first International Robotics Festival ( www.festivalinternazionaledellarobotica.it ), which will take place in Pisa from 7 to 13 September next, Women&Tech-Association Women and Technologies, founded by Gianna Martinengo and led by Maria Luisa Nolli , reaffirms its long-standing commitment to the enhancement of innovation and cultural orientation towards the professions of the future, with specific reference to young people and women.
The Association has always worked on the themes of empowerment, networking, sharing experiences and skills analysis, and above all, innovation, technological but not only.
"A concept that we truly value, in the economy of culture that we intend to spread with our initiatives - explains founder Gianna Martinengo - is that of SteAm. We believe, in fact, that it is necessary to go beyond the classic STEM, to involve, in processes, studies, and skills improvement, also all that world indicated by the English term "Arts", which in Italian can be translated as Humanities. The progress of knowledge will occur, in fact, more and more by integrating all sciences, that is, all approaches, both mathematical-scientific and cultural-humanistic."
The overall project "Women&Technologies 2008-2020", the common thread of all the Association's initiatives, includes international conferences, Talk-Events, the Technovisionaries Award and ®
orientation paths for students, "Future Camp Europe", which guide young people towards the discovery of new professions related to genetics, agriculture, nanotechnologies, robotics, biotech, green economy, nutrition, new materials.
Two hundred students participated in the first edition of #Robotlab ( Cubetto and WeDo ), during the initiative by the Municipality of Milan #STEMinTheCity in April 2017.
Drawing on its own experience, Women&Tech-Association of Women and Technologies contributes to the first International Robotics Festival with two digital education moments designed for young people, both scheduled for September 12th at the Leopolda Station.
The first, "Building educational robotics with BLUE-BOT" , is dedicated to children from five to eight years old. Blue-Bot represents the new and more advanced version of Bee-Bot, with an additional focus on digital aspects. Its internal components are visible through the transparent shell and children will have fun discovering all its mechanisms. Furthermore, it also allows younger children to develop complex command sequences and can be controlled through the free app, which exponentially expands its control possibilities.
The second appointment, "Building educational robotics with OZOBOT BIT", is aimed at students aged eight to fourteen years old.
OZOBOT BIT is a robot capable of moving and reacting on physical and digital surfaces, following colored paths. Just 2.5 centimeters tall, it can recognize over a thousand instructions, recharges via USB cable, and aims to combine technology and imagination, technical precision and creativity, to develop rich and analytical thinking.
The ROBOTLAB workshops are made possible thanks to the collaboration and support of Fondazione Arpa, Associazione Chirurgia Robotica Italiana, CampuStore, LenovoEducation, 3M. The laboratories are organized by Terza Cultura.
"Creativity and Innovation: not just technologies, but thought" is the title of the 11th edition of the International Technovisionary Award which, on the evening of September 13th in Pisa at the Arsenali Repubblicani, will be awarded to women who possess an innovative, sustainable, and ethical vision of their profession. ®
Promoted by Women&Tech-Association Women and Technologies to enhance female skills, the Award, over the years given to 84 professionals, boasts a Jury composed of qualified representatives from the thematic areas of the different contest categories, the world of culture, and communication.
The award ceremony will also conclude the International Robotics Festival.
"A circle closes - states Franca Melfi, Director of the Multidisciplinary Robotic Surgery Center at AOUP, President of the Jury of the 2011 BioWomenTech Award and Technovisionary in the category. - which actually only expands its range of action. From here, in fact, we start again, to tell with even more strength the solidarity, commitment, the desire to enhance female talent in all its expressions, personal and professional."
The eleventh edition of the Technovisionary Award ® It is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Arpa Foundation. We thank 3M for their support.
Finally, with the intention of reaffirming the fundamental female contribution within organizations, profit and non-profit, on the occasion of the Humanitarian Cooperation Day, a debate promoted by the Arpa Foundation within the International Robotics Festival, on September 12th Gianna Martinengo, founder of Women&Tech - Women and Technology Association and creator of the International Technovisionary Award, will participate as a speaker with a speech on women in international cooperation. ®
