SAP promotes "World of Minds" talk to discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in organizations.

The event, organized in collaboration with Women & Technologies, is part of the initiative promoted by the Municipality of Milan STEMintheCity and aims to investigate the role of technology in promoting the creation of more inclusive organizations.

Vimercate, June 12, 2020 - Creating an inclusive society brings significant benefits in terms of innovation, long-term sustainability, and economic value, but what are the challenges that a company or organization must face when they want to build an inclusive and diversity-based environment and what role can technology play? To answer these questions, Wednesday, June 24 SAP Italy in collaboration with the Women & Technologies Association organizes the talk " World of Minds ".

The event is part of the 2020 edition of STEMintheCity, the initiative promoted by the Municipality of Milan to encourage the spread of technical-scientific disciplines and new digital technologies among younger generations, with a special focus on girls and young women, which this year has become digital, offering free on-demand and streaming content and resources accessible through the STEMintheCity.eu website.

Promoting an open-minded approach

Hindering the spread of an open-minded approach in the workplace means depriving oneself of the possibility of triggering a virtuous and productive cycle for companies and employees. From a business perspective, enabling employees to freely express who they are means having happier individuals who are not afraid of facing repercussions for their identity, and therefore can give their best, with positive effects on the quality of their performance and consequently on the business.

Embracing a corporate culture oriented towards inclusion and respect for diversity also allows for greater success in attracting talent. Inclusion also stimulates creativity, becoming synonymous with innovation: in an organization where employees feel accepted, they are more likely to freely express their ideas.

"In SAP, every year we conduct an employee survey that allows us to monitor the sentiment of employees in relation to themes such as diversity & inclusion, equal opportunities, satisfaction, motivation, which are then correlated with the operational data we have to detect any experience gaps and areas for improvement," stated Ernesto Marinelli, Senior Vice President, Head of Human Resources for Customer Success at SAP. "Machine learning and artificial intelligence can truly make a difference when it comes to analyzing the collected data, identifying the root causes of problems, the most effective actions to solve them, and constantly monitoring the progress on various touchpoints between employees and companies, in order to promote an effective and positive change in how employees perceive and evaluate the brand. These analysis activities have clearly shown us that there are, throughout the employee lifecycle, moments that we can define as 'moments that matter', during which it is essential to ensure a wow experience to have truly engaged and motivated employees."

During the talk "World of Minds" Ernesto Marinelli will discuss these topics together with Valentina Goglio and Gianna Martinengo.

Valentina Goglio, with 10 years of experience in the training sector, has excellent skills in recruitment activities, talent acquisition projects, marketing and communication plan development, achieving sales goals, and team management. At MIP Politecnico di Milano, she was also involved in creating and promoting the first Executive MBA in Digital Learning in Italy, which led the school to grow and become a first mover in digital transformation in the training field in Italy with the goal of training innovation and change managers.

Gianna Martinengo, successful entrepreneur, is the founder of Women&Technologies and a technologist with a humanistic background. Since the early 1980s, within DKTS (Didael Knowledge Technologies Services: inspired by users, driven by science), she has built and implemented over 800 innovation projects and 70 European research projects, acquiring and embracing a social vision of Informatics.

The talk is moderated by Nicoletta Boldrini , journalist and founder of the project Tech4Future.info, and will take place on June 24th at 11:00 AM. To participate, registration is required through the platform Eventbrite .
