Robotlab: Generation Z and their parents meet Nao, Cubetto, and EV3

Robotics workshops to introduce children and teenagers to computational thinking

Drawing on its experience and the significant participation in the workshops organized during the Milan event STEMinthecity ( http://www.ewgf.eu/evento/robotlab-cubetto , http://www.ewgf.eu/evento/robotlab-robotica-educativa-con-lego-education-wedo-20 ) and the 1st International Robotics Festival in Pisa, which involved over four hundred children and young people, Women&Tech-Association Women and Technologies continues its path of digital education for the youngest by proposing 3 new sessions of RobotLab , a coding and robotics workshop that is an integral part of the FutureCamp Europe New Jobs for the Future project. The fourth edition of Robotlab is scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Microsoft House Showroom (Milan, Viale Pasubio).

The novelty of this edition lies in the presence of 80 children accompanied by 120 adults: an encounter between different generations and the robots Nao, Cubetto, and EV3.

Discover Cubetto and Nao (workshop for children aged 4 to 7)

Cubetto is a very friendly wooden robot that will introduce children to the basics of programming through simple games. Nao is one of the most advanced humanoid robots around, which will show children that all robots are easy to program.

Working with Lego Mindstorm Education Ev3 (workshop for children aged 9 to 13)

In just 45 minutes, the kids will learn how to build a robot capable of carrying out activities completely autonomously, using the third generation of LEGO® Mindstorms Education robotic technologies, motors, sensors, and programming.

The overall project "Women&Technologies 2008-2020", the common thread of all the initiatives of the Association, includes international conferences, Talk-Events, the Technovisionary Award, and orientation paths for students, "Future Camp Europe", which have led young people to discover new professions related to genetics, agriculture, nanotechnologies, robotics, biotech, green economy, nutrition, and new materials. ®

Gianna Martinengo, creator of the FutureCamp Europe project, argues: "Observing the rapid development of the global village, it is clear that many professions of tomorrow do not yet exist. It is important, therefore, to reflect on future demand before preparing today's training offer. FutureCamp Day, Sees, OrientaCamp are all initiatives of FutureCamp Europe designed to encourage and guide young people to discover emerging professional sectors in Italy and Europe."
