FutureCamp Europe: Biotech will take place within the third edition of the European Biotech Week: a whole week (from October 12th to 18th) dedicated to the biotechnology sector and promoted by EuropaBio (European Association of Biotechnology). Assobiotec is the Italian partner of the event and the promoter of numerous initiatives throughout the national territory, aimed at promoting the role of biotechnology in improving quality of life.
During the 2015 edition, "FutureCamp Europe" will focus specifically on the themes related to Biotechnologies applied to the Agrofood sector , through the experiences and expertise of young entrepreneurs, teachers, and researchers who have turned their passion into a profession.
Biotechnologies are one of the great revolutions of our times. They are a set of transversal technologies that cut across all sectors of our lives and have an impact on health, food, the environment, and are candidates to change our lifestyles. Testimonials will range from the issue of obesity, which affects over 30% of industrialized populations today, to a new diet including proteins from the bioconversion of organic waste, of which insects are an excellent source, to the removal of toxic substances from soil and water through the use of bacteria to new low-cost analysis technologies.
From the direct encounter and comparison with these realities, the 130 boys and girls from the I.C.S. Cardarelli school and the Famiglia e Scuola Faes Association will be able to receive practical information and draw inspiration for the definition and construction of a study path in line with their inclinations and the demands of the job market.
"Two are the essential components of the future of Europe and our country: equality and youth - asserts Gianna Martinengo, entrepreneur and creator of FutureCamp Europe - we want to combine them in order to contribute to ferrying the current educational context towards a new interpretation of training, oriented not so much towards traditional skills and abilities but rather towards those of the future. Offering an overview of emerging professions to the "weak" subjects of the labor market, namely young people and women, means presenting, through moments of guidance, comparison, and dialogue like this one, the professions that currently offer the greatest opportunities for development and effectively understanding in which perspective one should position themselves regarding the choices that concern their educational and professional path".
They will give their testimony: Nicoletta Ancona, Maria Luisa Nolli, Veronica Cremonesi, Elena Giordano, Daniela Jabes, Lucia Cavalca, Costanza Jucker, Fabio Giavazzi, Guido Terni, Nadia Benedetti, Pietro Alberti.
Will be present: Bruno Marasà, Leonardo Vingiani, Fiorenza Seghetti, Aldo Domina, Raffaella Fiz and Gianna Martinengo.
Participants will receive some gifts provided by the Information Office of the European Parliament in Milan and Lenovo, a snack offered by Kellogg's, the volumes "Io ricordo" and "Missione Terra: dal campo alla tavola" published by Federchimica, and the glossary "Biotechstart" edited by the Association of Women and Technologies.
Lenovo (a world leader in PCs and also at the forefront in the smartphone and tablet markets) and Lego Education respectively provide 25 Lenovo Thinkpad Helix and 4 LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3. The awards will be assigned and delivered at a later event, dedicated and extended to all students of the two schools participating in the classes that stand out for originality and creativity in the elaboration of drawings, texts, educational paths, questions or video interviews. Content on the meeting will be shared on Expo Women Global Forum and on the main social networks.
