Baleari Room of the Municipality of Pisa
March 9, 2018, 3:45 pm - 7:00 pm

Organized by:

  • Department of Educational Policies, Science Education, and Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Pisa
  • BioRobotics Institute, Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, Local Development and Technology Transfer

The objective of the initiative "Women and Research", carried out by the Municipality of Pisa in collaboration with the universities of Pisa and various associations engaged in the theme of gender equality, is to compare different experiences and sources on aspects of content and numerical data related to women's participation in society in general, and in the "STEM" world in particular.

This will allow for a transversal reading key on data and analysis coming from different studies, declining the theme "Women and Research" on the various areas it concerns, with the intention of bringing out possible new developments compared to the state of the art of the complex of information currently available.

Womentech, which first coined the acronym STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math & the Arts), will bring to the table its experience on how it is necessary to overcome the dichotomy between science and humanities and how an integration of these disciplines and skills is essential to address today's complexity and promote the equal participation of young people and women in the world of professions and work.
