There is a young man who is about to become a father. The whirlwind of emotions that envelops him in those moments forcefully brings back intentionally forgotten memories. Powerful and uncomfortable figures emerge from the past: the mother, the stepfather, the foster parents... each figure generates pain and inner tension.
This is the narrative world constructed by Alberto Pellai - a medical doctor and psychotherapist specializing in developmental age, author of numerous bestsellers for parents, educators, and young people - in the book "La vita accade", which will be explored on Wednesday, April 13 at 9:00 pm during the T-ESSERE event.
The event, entitled "The emotions of men: who knows how to get involved" can be followed online on Zoom and will be moderated by journalist Elena Giordano.
The plot of the book will be the starting point for analyzing male emotions and also comparing them with female emotions. Do men and women really have different ways of expressing, communicating, attaching, and caring for others?
What positive relationships can be built if painful emotions that have not been addressed, but only set aside, are not resolved?
The book also highlights the theme of verbal and physical violence, which creeps in and is almost justified by a tragic past: how to deal with men who exhibit these behaviors? Is there the ability to forgive and, on the other hand, to improve and grow?
