Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Le Ciminiere Exhibition Center in Catania, the second edition of the Dusmet Award – Life Science and Artificial Intelligence will be held, promoted by the Giuseppe Benedetto Dusmet Foundation as part of Expomedicina 2026, the Euromediterranean Exhibition of Technological Innovation in Healthcare.

The initiative was created to enhance projects capable of combining scientific innovation, ethical responsibility, and social impact, promoting the use of Artificial Intelligence that places the person, health, and human dignity at the center.

Gianna Martinengo on the Evaluation Committee

Gianna Martinengo, Founder and President of Women&Tech® ETS, has been invited to join the Evaluation Committee of the Dusmet Award 2026, alongside representatives from the scientific, academic, healthcare, and institutional sectors.

The award recognizes projects and solutions that demonstrate how Artificial Intelligence can concretely contribute to improving people's lives, while respecting the principles of transparency, responsibility, and social justice.

Starting from 12:20 PM, Martinengo will participate in the discussion between the Commission and the candidates for the Award, before the closing ceremony scheduled for 1:00 PM.

Artificial Intelligence and Life Sciences: the comparison between research, ethics, and innovation

During the morning, at 11:00 AM, Gianna Martinengo will also participate in the panel "Artificial Intelligence and Life Science", dedicated to the opportunities, ethical implications, and future prospects of AI applied to research and health.

Also participating in the discussion will be Stefano Alessandro Cerri, Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at the University of Montpellier, Distinguished Fellow of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, and Vice President of Research and Development at DKTS.

The panel will be opened by Don Andrea Ciucci, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy for Life, and will feature the participation of Giacomo Cuttone (INFN), Daniele Mondello (Olomedia), and Giovanni Gallo (University of Catania). It will be moderated by Nino Amadore, journalist for Il Sole 24 Ore.

Gianna Martinengo's participation fully aligns with the mission of Women&Tech® ETS, which has always been committed to enhancing skills, promoting female talent in scientific and technological fields, and building a culture of inclusive and responsible innovation.

A vision in which technological progress is not an end in itself, but a tool to generate new opportunities, reduce inequalities, and contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities.
